statistics - How to compare two Pearson's correlations

I am trying to compare two Pearson’s correlations (and also R2) between two variables (variable 1 and variable 2) from independent samples (one suffering from the disorder and the other is not suffering from the disorder; a different variable from variable 1 and variable 2).

I have read that I could do it by transforming the scores into z-scores but I just wonder if I could do it using structural equation models. I have thought to create one model with both correlations and then compare this model against a reduced model which equate both correlations.

I am not sure if that is a valid approach and I am not certainly sure about how to do it or which package I should use. Therefore, I would be particularly grateful if you could help me and give me some guidance.

With all good wishes,
